It won’t be long before Minnesotans can cash in on coins made just for their state. The U.S. Mint in Denver struck the first Minnesota quarter on Monday morning.
The design stamps everything Minnesota in metal and collectors can’t wait to get their hands on the coin.
Six years after Delaware got things rolling, it was Minnesota’s flag flying outside the Denver mint as the land of 10,000 lakes joined the state quarter collection.
Minnesota Lt. Governor Carol Molnau calls the depiction of the Loon, the lake and the anglers a piece of art, “More than a coin, more than a quarter, but a piece of art that actually says this is Minnesota.”
