SNOW HILL, Md. – Lose some coins?

Workers at Worcester County’s central landfill found thousands of dollars in mint condition coins last summer and have been waiting since then for the owner to reclaim them.

The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office believes the coins were discarded as the result of a housecleaning mistake.

Someone threw the coins into a newspaper recycling area. From there, they made their way to the central landfill.

If they are not claimed soon, the coins will go to the landfill worker who found them.
