Dave Harper has an article on his blog titled, Coins Now California Cool, and he proposes that coin collecting is cooler now because some of the big dealers in California have attracted big dollars into coins from outside investors.

It's an interesting take on the reason coins have become a popular investment vehicle, and may also explain the incredible growth in price of the million dollar coins.
