Chris Pirillo posed the following question on his blog, "How profitable is coin collecting as an investment?"

The responses he got were quite interesting, but then he posted a follow-up on the same issue after receiving information from an economist who found a study on the long-term rate of return on rare coins in the Journal of Financial Planning in August 2005.

It confirms my initial suggestion that you should collect coins because you enjoy it, not solely for the investment.
