ANACS sold to AndersonThe parent company of Whitman Publishing, LLC, the company that puts out the Red Book, is getting into third-party grading. Anderson Press, Inc., of Atlanta, Ga., signed an agreement to purchase ANACS coin grading service from Amos Press, Inc., of Sidney, Ohio, on March 7. “We’re excited about being in the numismatic industry,” said Anderson president John McDowell. “We’re not in it to be the best in the industry. We’re in it to be what’s best for the industry. “We’d been wanting to get into third-party grading. Whitman is working diligently to put publish a good coin book with the Red Book, and we’re excited about getting more involved in the numismatic industry.” The purchase price was not released.
